Ruti Madison Flagship

Ruti is a ready-to-wear womenswear brand that was founded in California in 2009, and reached out to BOND to create a new design direction for its new space on Madison Avenue. We were impressed with the casual elegance that Ruti instills in her clothing: a sense of ease, while keeping an edge that feels contemporary.  While the new boutique is located in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, a historically buttoned-up part of New York, it was important for us to inject the space with newness: in materials, form, and sense of identity.

The space was re-conceived as an L-shape boutique, with the exception of a freestanding mirror cube, used for a dressing room. The material palette combines colder, industrial materials – green epoxy flooring, stainless steel and chrome metalwork – with warmer ones like sapele wood, green mohair carpet, and purple cabinetry accents. These result in a space that feels like a new interpretation of the Madison boutique, and one that can serve as a fresh backdrop for Ruti’s future collections.

The project incorporates new furniture pieces from Panorama Studio in Mexico City, as well as vintage pieces by Eileen Gray.
